History
MSIgroup evolved from a government funded swedish research project, "Value creating IT for road haulage firms". The project aimed to provide general guidelines för how information systems should be developed and used based on the needs of road haulage organizations.
Led by Viktoria Institute, the project started July 1st 2003. In collaboration with representatives of mobile, stationary and embedded systems vendors, and user organizations, the use of and problems experienced with information technology was studied. A central problem proved to be the way in which mobile and stationary systems are assembled and utilized. Users experienced a lock in effect imposed by proprietary application interfaces. To overcome these adverse effects, a proposed standardized mobile stationary interface, MSI, was developed by researchers from the Viktoria Institute in collaboration with users and vendors. MSI group was subsequently formed to secure the continuous diffusion and development of MSI.
